A short cycle free trip…

There’s a perfectly good reason that American Airlines intials are AA and that’s because they break down so much they need the AA to recover them and by the end of your journey you’ll need the other AA to cope with the booze problem you picked up in the 22 lounges you had to wait in whilst they found someone who actually knew how to fix a plane. But I’m getting ahead of myself. We have, for once left Tilly at home and come to the states to see our elderly secret cousins in Florida for a few days. We hadn’t decided to do this until the last minute but had been...

The last leg…

Space X Launch Florida cycleroute 1 Perfect shady lunch stop. Chillin.. No swimming today… Glad we went for the small.. Cooling off with a paddle Much needed Margarita time.. Tillys last beach visit Posh Yacht Marina! Our last dip in the Atlantic End of the line… End of the road for this USA trip… Some of the hotels chains in this area, appear to be upping their game since our last visit and refurbing their rooms. Dauphin Island Gulf Shores beach hut! Downtown Pensacola Our Pensacola B&B.. We were in the turret! After the storms Like cycling in the Sahara! Some of us working hard… While others…. While Tilly rested….. Afternoon tea in the finished garden! Posh Rooftop Sundowners… The cycle out from Pascogoula was along the main highway for the first 26km. There was a nice shoulder and it was Sunday morning so the road wasn’t busy as all the locals were all presumably at church or McDonald’s for brunch. We crossed into Alabama – home to the Christian...

Elvis and Tilly.

Trees hanging on for dear life as the coast erodes.. One of the only renovated piers along the coast.. ???? Former home of Elvis! The coast around Biloxi is full of enormous casinos and sky high prices for hotel rooms so we crossed the bridge into Ocean Springs to escape to the cheap seats for the night. The town was far nicer than the casino end with some gorgeous beaches and an old centre with restaurants and shops so we had booked 2 nights at the former home of Elvis, now a hotel. We adjourned to the bar for the evening and had a great time chatting to the locals and were not surprised to...
