You can wipe that smile off your face…

Broughty Ferry Dundee residents Press photo at Perth Cathedral Fab evening with Colin & Di Not so fab, damp, cold ride to Tillys tearoom The Falkirk Kelpies Not our finest moment ! Forth railway bridge Our cosy Cabin.. I remember staying in bnb’s where you had to put money in the meter for hot water and the landlady had her customer service training at Colditz.  I thought they had all long gone but the ‘Luxury airbnb’ we booked at Broughty Ferry was doing a sterling job of maintaining the tradition. We’d booked 2 nights with a harbour and castle view, and had...

A hidden wee gem

Blowing a hoolie on the Moray Firth Suffolk like countryside Findochty Findochty Stunning coastline Sleepy fishing villages scattered along the coast And always a castle…. Tilly not too keen on the Beach art….! Lunch stop… Biblical gardens at Elgin Turriff Coo Coast also lined with the best drying spots ! Many villages along the coast lined the hedgerows and open spaces with wild flowers . We left Inverness and began our slow cycle along the coast which has to be some of the most wonderful cycling you can imagine.  The coast is just gorgeous and although it’s...

Bonnie Scotland..

Largs A day out with team Matilda.. Prosecco Picnic Cumbrae ‘Cathedral of the Isles’ The smallest Cathedral… Team Matilda The Two Tillys Largs sunset…End of a great day Heading North Castle Stalker Ben Nevis Our long roll down We arrived in Largs a day ahead of schedule so had a very pleasant day off, with sunshine and no rain (what!!) And time for a quiet wander around and meander from bench to bench. We really are incredibly lazy when we don’t have any plans and oddly feel more exhausted doing nothing than we do cycling. It must be all the cake and ice...

Through the Borders..

Carlisle Cathedral Lockerbie Lambs The road ahead…. Bleeding brakes….! Top of that hill, lesson learnt…don’t cycle over hills with wind farms on the top ! Glasgow lunch in the rain .. again! Castle on the hill… By the time we arrived in Carlisle it was a lovely sunny day. Cool and breezy but still very nice.  The Cathedral had a fabulous star ceiling which was very unusual and we ticked off Cathedral number 30 and, with the weather remaining nice continued on to cross the border into Scotland and Gretna Green for the night! Gretna is famous for weddings and...

Through the Lakes

Having said goodbye to our family after a lovely 5 days which included our first ever game of lazer tag which was awesome, a canal boat trip, a d with Ben off the beer, copious amounts of Gin!.. we headed back to Liverpool and more cycle traps… We had just bypassed one by going through a gap in the fence when we bumped into the cycle path Ranger. Who told us these barriers were to stop motorbikes. We said we’d never seen a motorbike anywhere on a cycle path without barriers and then promptly saw 2 quad bikes.. They were Police Quads on Patrol! Our Hotel for the night was another...

North of stoke

Happy days…. Summer! Another trap Chester Liverpool… Minton tiles Ripped tyre Leaving the hotel after a night not spent on the loo and having had 18 hours of sleep was very welcome. We even ate out for breakfast as the previous evening I couldn’t really face going to anywhere selling food to get breakfast in for the next morning. I drink decaf tea and I always like two teabags in a pot. This is hardly ever an issue but occasionally some bright accountant decides that that’s actually 2 pots so wants to charge you a extra few quid for a 5p tea bag. I now ask to check...
