The last leg…

Space X Launch Florida cycleroute 1 Perfect shady lunch stop. Chillin.. No swimming today… Glad we went for the small.. Cooling off with a paddle Much needed Margarita time.. Tillys last beach visit Posh Yacht Marina! Our last dip in the Atlantic End of the line… End of the road for this USA trip… Some of the hotels chains in this area, appear to be upping their game since our last visit and refurbing their rooms. We had an excellent night in one of these and set off on another Florida sunshine and heat morning for a cycle further down the coast toward Fort Lauderdale....

Ploughing through the ‘spring breakers’ at Seaside Sunset at Panama City Beach ‘Diner’ breakfast Phew.. Its a hot one… ???? Swamp paddling to cool off… Flaked out at 39.5C!! The only bit of shade.. Under the motorway.. ???? Chased by the Tortoises.. Just in time for the storm… Tilly gets a soaking… We left our secret cousins and headed off on one of our favourite cycles of all time along the long dedicated cycle path from Destin to just short of Panama City Beach. The path takes you through some gorgeous Disney like villages themed from Greek...

Oh no, Alabama again…

Dauphin Island Gulf Shores beach hut! Downtown Pensacola Our Pensacola B&B.. We were in the turret! After the storms Like cycling in the Sahara! Some of us working hard… While others…. While Tilly rested….. Afternoon tea in the finished garden! Posh Rooftop Sundowners… The cycle out from Pascogoula was along the main highway for the first 26km. We crossed into Alabama – home to the Christian...

Trees hanging on for dear life as the coast erodes.. One of the only renovated piers along the coast.. ???? Former home of Elvis! The coast around Biloxi is full of enormous casinos and sky high prices for hotel rooms so we crossed the bridge into Ocean Springs to escape to the cheap seats for the night. The town was far nicer than the casino end with some gorgeous beaches and an old centre with restaurants and shops so we had booked 2 nights at the former home of Elvis, now a hotel. We adjourned to the bar for the evening and had a great time chatting to the locals and were not surprised to...

Mississippi River

Missippi Cycle path Old Kenner town Plantation lunch stop The Mississippi! English tea room in Covington Relaxing day at our Covington B&B Wet and cold Lake Pontchartrain Deserted cycle route We picked up another French baguette as we made our way to the Mississippi River Cycle Trail which runs along the levee on a very smooth track. The river here is enormous and the river sides are heavily industrialised for nearly all our cycle along it. 55km of heavy industry with numerous berths for ocean going ships. It was an interesting cycle but not the most picturesque. You also won’t be...
