When we were warned way back at the start of our tour about the dangers of America the three things that we weren’t warned about were Hillbillys, Guns and Dogs. Our hotel was right next to an airport and the aircraft almost took the roof off as they landed, especially as they were military propellor trainers which came it at full throttle to touch and go. Good fun to watch. So rather appropriately we decided to bail out of the Underground Railroad route. Refreshed, the next day we left our campsite with our own personally signed copy of the Gospel of John from our neighbours and a mini prayer meeting and began our northward journey. Our day took us on a toll road where the staff said “No Charge” and through the countryside to Fairhope, a hippy arty town on Mobile Bay.
